Please join us for an exclusive preview of 2024 Fountainhead alum Sarah Zapata’s solo Exhibition at The Bass Museum of Art. Members will enjoy a guided walkthrough of the exhibition by curator Jasa Mckenzie and artist Sarah Zapata.
Zapata’s handwoven works blur the boundaries between craft and sculpture. Using labor-intensive techniques she creates immersive installations that draw from Peruvian textile traditions alongside contemporary materials and processes. Her practice explores themes of identity, labor, queerness, and systems of power, often reflecting her experience as a queer, first-generation Peruvian American raised in an evangelical Christian environment.
Zapata’s Exhibition was funded by Fountainhead Forum, an initiative created to support institutional acquisitions and exhibitions of Fountainhead alumni. Launched in 2026, Forum distributed $125,000 to seven alumni artists in its inaugural year.
The Fountainhead Experience membership program is for those who want to see the world differently and develop intimate relationships with artists and art appreciators. This season, Fountainhead members will be immersed in the local landscape, with behind-the-scenes tours of private collections, artist-led experiences, and more.
