Ruth Lastra (Buenos Aires, 1985) is a textile artist based in Buenos Aires who constructs dreamlike escapes where women rest and reconnect with their bodies and nature.
Originally working as an architect, Lastra is fascinated by the way our surroundings silently transform and condition us-how architecture can hold the sky, contain the water, and frame the sun. Through arches and columns that feel at once classical and futuristic, she creates imagined worlds where she herself would like to be: temples inhabited by women from every era, refuges, and altars where the feminine can pause and reconnect with both itself and the natural world.
Lastra believes we no longer "eat fruit from the trees," suggesting we have become detached from the nourishment nature offers and, in turn, from valuing our own bodies-that magical source of nourishment for our species. Through breasts transformed into fruit, her work reimagines the feminine body as a mysterious and sacred object of reverence, contemplation, and care.
Pilar Fernandez Lerda is a ceramic artist based in Miami. Lerda's Resting Bodies series are composed of individual ceramic forms designed to fit seamlessly together, like parts of a living body. The series became a way of reconnecting with herself-not as something to control, but as something to listen to, trust, and care for. Lerda reflects on the intricate systems that quietly sustain us: cells, bones, neural networks, and bodies at rest. Like the body itself, her sculptures exist in a delicate balance between control and surrender, stability and vulnerability, care and rest.
Fire becomes the final act of surrender in her practice, transforming each piece in ways that remain partially beyond her control and reinforcing clay as a living collaborator rather than a passive material.
Pilar Fernández Lerda is also a member of Collective 62, Miami's first all-women artist-run collective where she oversees the wood firings and leads sustainable community workshops.
