Eilen Itzel do Espírito Santo

Film directed by Alexa Caravia for Fountainhead Arts

Eilen Itzel do Espírito Santo is an Afro-Dominican American artist and writer from the South Bronx, New York. Working across painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and installation, her practice explores joy, community, ancestry, and spirituality within the African Diaspora and Latin America. Through vibrant color, recurring symbols, and layered figuration, she investigates how personal and collective histories shape identity while celebrating beauty, resilience, and care as forms of resistance. Do Espírito Santo received a BA from the USC Roski School of Art & Design and an MFA from the UCL Slade School of Fine Art in London. She has exhibited internationally, participated in numerous artist residencies, and received grants and awards supporting her practice. In 2025, she was an artist-in-residence at ACME's Early Career Programme in London.
